Walks

The Lake District offers so many walks for all abilities. On our doorstep are two very popular walks:

Tarn Hows
A popular beauty spot located between Coniston and Hawkshead.  One of Lakelands most popular spots, it is owned by the National Trust who run a free minibus service from both Coniston and Hawkshead.  Enjoy traffic free walking around the 1.5 mile lake side which is suitable for wheelchair access.  Tarn Hows was originally 3 separate tarns.  During the 19th century they were joined together into one. Views of the surrounding area are stunning.

Grizdale Forest Park
Featuring various walking, orienteering and mountain bike routes which explore the forest including the famous sculptures.  A range of work can be viewed in the exhibition gallery. Interpretive displays in the visitor centre provide information on the forest environment. Guidebooks, maps, and souvenirs are sold.  Forest tearoom, adventure playground and picnic sites make a fun family day out.  Many facilities for the disabled.
