AA_Yellow_Star_4October2014 – June 2015  High Grassings has  been refurbished to a very high standard. Our doors are now open and look forward to welcome you to our country house.

Located in the heart of the Lake District only 40 minutes drive from M6 motorway ( junction 36 ) , nestled between Ambleside, Hawkshead and Coniston and only minutes away by car from Ambleside, Windermere and Bowness.

High Grassings stands in an elevated position with breath taking mountain views.  Our extensive grounds are inhabited by a variety of wild life including red deer, roe deer, red squirrel and a multitude of songbirds. We also have a pond and streams, which makes this one of the most tranquil settings in the Lake District but also within close proximity to the villages of Hawkshead, Conniston, Grasmere, Elterwater offering great eateries and touristic attractions  and also the towns again within easy driving distances Ambleside, Windermere, Kendal and Keswick offering more amenities such as cinemas, theatres and  shopping centres.

We are within walking distance to Hawkshead Village where there are plenty of shops and eateries. Also in easy walking distance of Tarn Hows (once owned by Beatrix Potter) walk around the lake and take in the amazing views of the surrounding mountains Old Man of Coniston, Langdale Pikes and Fairfield to name a few .

The meerkat or suricate, Suricata suricatta, is a small mammal belonging to the mongoose family. Meerkats live in all parts of the Kalahari Desert in Botswana, in much of the Namib Desert in Namibia and southwestern Angola, and in South Africa. A group of meerkats is called a "mob", "gang" or "clan". A meerkat clan often contains about 20 meerkats, but some super-families have 50 or more members. In captivity, meerkats have an average life span of 12–14 years, and about half this in the wild.
